Anointed Music

But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him. And Saul's servants said to him, “Surely, a distressing spirit from God is troubling you. Let our master now command your servants, who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. And it shall be that he will play it with his hand when the distressing spirit from God is upon you, and you shall be well.” NKJV

God cares about the music you listen to. Music is a gift from God. Anointed music flows from the Holy Spirit who is within and upon the musician. The lyrics of such music should be rooted in the Bible - the word of God.

Saul's servants searched for a man who was skillful on the harp. David fit the bill. He not only was a skillful musician, but the Scripture says that the Lord was with David. Whenever David would play his harp, the distressing spirit departed from King Saul.

Skillful musicians or minstrels, who are anointed by God, know how to yield to the Holy Spirit while they play their instrument. Singers who sing under the anointing of the Holy Spirit and instrumentalists who play under God's Presence, release power to those who listen and enter into worship. Strongholds in people's lives are broken, when this kind of music goes forth.

God has given us music to glorify Him. This is its primary purpose.

If you are a musician or a singer, develop your gifts. Grow your talent, but always cultivate a heart that pants after God. Then your gift will please Him and touch others.

If you are not musically inclined, remember you are to make a joyful noise. Never be ashamed to raise your voice in song. God looks at your heart. If it beats after him, your singing is delightful to God's ears.
