“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray and they have not known my ways.’ So I declared on oath in my anger, they shall never enter my rest.’ ” Hebrews 3:7-11
When God
speaks, we not only have the responsibility to listen, we must also have the
sensitivity to obey. If not, our hearts will grow cold and hard. One sign that
we are riding down that crooked road is unrest churns in our souls. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can
choose to follow the voice of Jesus.
The
primary way we hear God’s voice is through reading the scriptures. The Holy
Spirit will also speak to us personally. But once we hear His voice, we have a
responsibility to obey. Will you follow the Lord when He leads you? If you do,
you will find His peace and you will grow from glory to glory. You will also
know the stability of living in His rest.
