His Rest

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray and they have not known my ways.’  So I declared on oath in my anger, they shall never enter my rest.’ ” Hebrews 3:7-11

When God speaks, we not only have the responsibility to listen, we must also have the sensitivity to obey. If not, our hearts will grow cold and hard. One sign that we are riding down that crooked road is unrest churns in our souls.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can choose to follow the voice of Jesus. 

The primary way we hear God’s voice is through reading the scriptures. The Holy Spirit will also speak to us personally. But once we hear His voice, we have a responsibility to obey. Will you follow the Lord when He leads you? If you do, you will find His peace and you will grow from glory to glory. You will also know the stability of living in His rest.

How Can They Hear

Here are some thoughts about being a witness for Christ...

How can they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14-15

How can they know unless someone brings the message and explains?

We should strive to leave uncommon lives as we follow the steps of Christ.

But Jesus did not only live a godly life, He spoke about the kingdom of God. He pointed the way.

Let’s choose to live out the Christian life, but let’s also tell others of God’s precious gift.

 

We don’t have to be Bible scholars to be people of influence.

You can start by just telling your story. Let others know how you came to follow Jesus.

Ask God to use you in this way. Let His boldness enliven you.

All God is asking us for are small steps of obedience.

Would you be one to reach your world? With God, all things are possible.

If He can use me, He can use anyone.

You Satisfy

 

 

In the center of my soul

There is a longing

A void to be filled

What or who can fit perfectly within?

Can an admirable lover be enough to satisfy?

Can this world’s goods fill this emptiness?

What about success and fame – to be esteemed by men?

Alas, I am unfulfilled. Nothing satisfies.

 

But You laid aside Your great position to become a man.

You died and rose again.

Now, You offer me eternal life.

You are the perfect fit.

You are the answer to my ache within.

Jesus, You are the all sufficient one. You satisfy my soul.
